Description
English: Replacement bridge on reservoir access track. When major works were planned to Green Withens dam in 1996/7, it was found that the cast iron bridges along the access track, dating from when the dam was built in the 1890s, were not strong enough to carry construction traffic, so they had to be replaced first. The new bridges such as this one were built with precast concrete beams, which had to be non-standard ones cast to order to match the trapezoidal shape of the bridge, and an in-situ concrete topping. The original Victorian railings were refurbished and re-used to maintain a historic appearance. A view of the bridge ten years later can be seen in 88621 showing how it has weathered.
