Title
Anne Marguerite Joseph van Ren Dit is een portret van Anne Marguerite Joseph (Anna Margaretha) des H.R. Rijksgravin van Renesse van Elderen (1703-1775) en een zwarte bediende. Margaretha betrok in 1726 met haar man Kasteel Cannenburch in Vaassen. Jonge zwarte bedienden zijn in portretten van de witte elite vaak weergegeven als statussymbool. In dit geval gaat het echter om een jongen die werkelijk heeft bestaan en door Margaretha in haar kasboek wordt beschreven als ‘le petit Housard qui eux le malheur d’ etre noire’. Uit het kasboek blijkt dat de jongen van 1749 tot 1752 op kasteel Cannenburch verbleef. Zijn naam is nog altijd onbekend.
