Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Renault Alouette (ca 1965) rear three quarters
A sliding door to the luggage compartment on the nearside of the van became a market requirement for light delivery vans in France after Citroën came up with the (then novel) idea in 1939.
The alcove containing the fuel filler cap resembles the sort of niche found on roadsides and church buildings in rural France and containing statues of saints, or crucifixes, or Madonnas, suggesting that the designer almost certainly grew up in a Catholic country. Such as (laïcité not withstanding) France.
