Description

Renault 9 GTC en España. El GTC era un Renault 9 básico "pelado" de equipamiento.

"Lo más alemán de Renault" rezaba alguna publicación de la época. El Renault 9 como vehículo espacioso, robusto y elegante. La versión GTC nació con el objetivo de ajustar el precio del vehículo para ampliar su radio de ventas, ofreciendo por un precio más asequible este modelo de gran elegancia y fiabilidad. Para ello, Renault redujo al máximo el equipamiento, por lo que el GTC carecía de todo tipo de detalles -ni siquiera tenía reloj- y los acabados -aunque buenos para el gusto de principios de los 80- eran un poco inferiores respecto a sus inmediatos hermanos superiores, los Renault 9 GTL. Como propulsor, Renault no se complicó y dotó al 9 GTC con su propulsor de 1237 cc y 55CV, que aunque escaso para su peso era de probadísima fiabilidad y robustez ideal para el tipo de comprador de este modelo. Además, con la caja de cambios de 4 velocidades hacía llegar a este modelo a circular a una velocidad de crucero de 140 km/h sin ningún problema y con un consumo bastante ajustado. Las siglas GTC se aplicaron también en su primo cercano Renault 11, con carrocería de 3 puertas y análogo equipamiento, aunque con menos éxito comercial.
