Remarkable bike with a kid passenger seat, and extra robust front basket.

This bike had a number of remarkable features.

  1. Note the passenger seat, for a child passenger. The passenger gets their own handlebars.
  2. Note the remarkably robust front cargo basket. Unlike every other front basket I have ever seen, it is not attached to the handlebars, or the front forks. Rather it is attached to the frame itself. The usual method of attachment means that when the bike is at rest, or at low speeds, the weight of the cargo makes it very hard to keep the bike going straight.
  3. The rear wheel has a supplementing electric motor in the hub.

The owner and his daughter came up while I has admiring the bike, and graciously answered a few questions.

The young passenger confirmed that: (1) the passenger seat was reasonably comfortable; and (2) she did feel safe.

I asked the owner whether the very sturdy struts of the basket meant it could carry 100 kg. He confirmed that it could carry very heavy cargos.

I asked how much it cost, after doing some mental arithmetic, as he included add-ons, like the hub-motor, he said it cost about $1,400 CAD.
