Summary

[edit]
Description
English: "The Monument of Nicias was a small temple-like, with six Doric columns in front and pediments on both its narrow sides. At the end of antiquity (3rd cent. A.D.) the monument was dismantled and a large number of its architectural members were transferred and used to construct the Beule gate of the Acropolis, named after its excavator. Visitors can still find there the choragic inscription, engraved on the three central sections of the architrave of the facade, referred to Nicias the son of Nicodemus, who won teaching the chorus of the boys in the archonship of Neaichmus." Text: information board next to the ruins.
