Summary
[edit]DescriptionRemains of lime-kiln - geograph.org.uk - 1622098.jpg |
English: Remains of lime-kiln. This is the first of ten former lime-kiln sites that are located along a short section of the Murroch Burn. For an index to pictures of all ten sites, see 1622071
This is the only one of the ten sites whose location is marked on modern OS maps (of sufficiently small scale), but, of the ten, it is one of the least well preserved. As a result, the ruins of the kiln might be hard to make out in this photo. The remains form a roughly circular pit whose near wall, at least, is visible here, slightly right of centre on the other side of the Murroch Burn; there are several trees growing in the interior of the pit, obscuring its far side. |
