Summary
[edit]DescriptionRemains of lime-kiln (wall detail) - geograph.org.uk - 1622206.jpg |
English: Remains of lime-kiln (wall detail). This is a closer look at the exposed section of intact wall that is shown at 1622205; of the ten Murroch Burn lime-kiln sites that I visited, no other one displays so well-preserved an original wall.
The wall is only exposed on the north-eastern side of the pit, and stands to a height of about 110 cm. The stones can be seen to have been very carefully placed with regard to their shapes, as when building a dry-stone wall. |
