[edit]
Description
English: Remains of a B-17G Flying Fortress below Beinn Edra During the afternoon of 3rd March 1945, a USAAF B-17G Flying Fortress hit the cliffs on the east face of Beinn Edra. The plane was destroyed and all nine crew members perished. The bomber was on a journey from Bangor, Maine to Italy, from where it was to take part in the war in North Africa. The leg it was flying on the day of the fatal crash was from Iceland to RAF Valley in Anglesey. This is a view of the area below the crash site, where a part of the airframe lies.
