Summary
[edit]DescriptionReis jam 02 1904.jpg |
English: The unpowered ore barge William E. Reis, wedged between the steamboat James B. Eads (left) and the steamboat John W. Moore. All three are wedged between the east pier of the Superior Viaduct (a bridge carrying Superior Avenue across the river) and the east bank docks (co-owned by the Cleveland, Terminal and Valley Railway and the Detroit & Cleveland Navigation Company in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States in January 1904.
A massive flood on January 22, 1904, forced the Reis to break free of her moorings. She struck the other two ships, which also broke free. All the vessels floated downstream to jam against the Superior Viaduct bridge. |
