Brustbild des Myconius von vorn, nach links schauend, mit aufgeschlagenen Mantelkragen. Rechts und links neben Hals AETAT - 48. Am Schulterabschnitt die Medailleursignatur HR.

Rückseite: IN PACIENCIA VESTRA POSSIDEBITIS ANIMAS VESTRAS / FERENDVM ET SPERANDVM [Fasst eure Seele mit Geduld. Man muss leiden und hoffen (Lucas 21,19)]. Umschrift in zwei Kreisen, im Feld ein blühender Rosenstrauch (Lutherrose), auf dem Grasballen die Jahreszahl 1539 vertieft.

Kommentar: Diese Gussmedaille ist nachgearbeitet und zeigt eine Henkelspur. - Friedrich Myconius ist 1490 in Lichtenfels in Franken geboren worden. Seit 1524 war er Stadtpfarrer in Gotha und stand in den Diensten des Kurfürsten Johann Friedrich. 1539 führte Myconius die Reformation in Leipzig ein, wahrscheinlich als Pfarrer an der Nikolaikirche. 1546 starb er in Gotha. Auf dieser Gussmedaille ist er im Alter von 48 Jahren dargestellt.
