Description
English: Crews will use reinforced steel tubes to help build the underground foundation for the new I-85 bridges over the Yadkin River. They will place the tubes into holes 54-feet deep and fill them with concrete. Crews started digging the holes in February 2011 and will build 160 underground columns in this manner over the next five months - 80 for the northbound bridge and 80 for the southbound bridge.
