English: Regarding the bells This metal plate, difficult to read here because of the reflected light, explains that the church's two bells, dedicated to St David and St Patrick were recast and rededicated in 1944 to commemorate the sinking of two Great Western steam ferries, bearing the saints' names, that were sunk by enemy action on the Fishguard to Rosslare route. St Patrick's bell hangs closer to the sea and his beloved Ireland, St David's bell on the inland side nearer his beloved Wales.
Both bells were restored in 2003. At Llanwnda, Pembrokeshire. |
