English: Admiral William D. Leahy (right)shakes hands with Admiral Joseph M. Reeves(left) during change of command ceremonies. NHC description said photo was taken during Admiral Leahy relieved Admiral Reeves as Commander, Battle Force, U.S. Fleet (COMBATFOR), 30 March 1936, but Reeves left the post on 15 June 1934, and was Commander-in-chief, U.S. Fleet between 26 February 1934 and 24 June 1936. Proper description would be Reeves congratulating Leahy as the new COMBATFOR, relieving Admiral Harris Laning (COMBATFOR 1 April 1935 - 30 March 1936). |
