Summary

[edit]
Description I was taken so much with the brilliant golden plumage of this Reeves's Pheasant that I spent quite some time trying to catch his picture. But the fellow kept on and on preening, and I couldn't capture his face until much later. (see next photograph). But here he is, in his preening stage, something he kept at for quite a while. The Reeves's Pheasant is a large (male length 210 cm, female length 75 cm) pheasant which is endemic to China. The name commemorates the British naturalist John Reeves, who first introduced live specimens to Europe in 1831. (Butterworth, Penang, Nov. 2013)
