Summary
[edit]DescriptionReed cutters' implements - geograph.org.uk - 1803143.jpg |
English: Reed cutters' implements The reed cutters have brought with them the implements and materials they need for bundling and tying together the reeds they have cut in the nearby reed beds on both sides of the River Waveney. Houses and boatyards situated in the village of St Olaves can be seen in the background.
The reed beds on both sides of the River Waveney are harvested, the reeds are being used for thatching. When the water table is low the workmen are able to access the reed beds on foot. They use a boat to get to the other side of the river and for transporting the bundled reeds from there onto the dike along which the footpath runs, from where they can be picked up by a car or a tractor. |
