The apparent variationfrom the curve must have been due to the inability to secure uni-form samples, because of the solid material which separated out ofsolution.Experiment XIV . This experiment was an exact repetition of the last onewith the exception that corn oil fatty acid3 were used instead ofoleic acid, and the purpose being to note whether the method wasagain successful with mixed fatty acid3 and also to observe whetherthe reduction proceeded in the same way; that is, whether the curvefor the iodine value against time as found in the last experimentwas typical of the reduction by this method and this apparatus orwhether there eculd be an entirely different curve for differentkinds or mixtures of fatty acids.
