中文：红四合云纹缎绣十二章衮服, 这件龙袍也是皇帝的常服, 以四合云纹为地纹, 上面也绣有十二章纹. 中国古代有五德之说, "五德" 是指五行木, 火, 土, 金, 水所代表的五种德性, "五德" 周而复始, 循环运转. 每一个朝代都有一个德运, 并按五行相克的原理循环, 元朝为金德, 根据五行相克, 火克金, 明朝的德运为火德, 火是红色的, 所以, 明朝尚红色.
