Red Horn in Biological Laboratory at Flathead Lake

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: View of Red Horn, a Salish Indian man, studying a document at a table in the University of Montana Biological Station on Flathead Lake. He wears braids, kerchief, cloth shirt, vest, and a blanket wrapped around his waist. A microscope is at his right, and books, hats, and papers are arranged on the table. Two rooms are partially visible through open doors in the background. Clothing hangs from the wall, and coats are on a coat rack inside one of the rooms. Two rifles lean against the wall next to a wooden chest at right. Probably photographed by University of Montana science department head Morton J. Elrod, who founded the biological station in 1899. 1 photographic print : black and white ; 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 in. Scanned with an Epson Expression 12,000 XL, 24-bit color for prints or 8-bit grayscale for negatives with 6000 pixels on the long edge. TIFF master images are flipped horizontally, straightened, sharpened and levels are set in Photoshop Version CC.
