Español: La recuperación de chatarra se lleva a cabo mediante varios procesos distintos. Tanto personas como empresas tienen la posibilidad de vender su chatarra para su reciclaje en instalaciones especializadas, como las plantas de reciclaje como es el caso de RECEMSA. Esta chatarra también puede obtenerse de productos que se descartan o se retiran del mercado a pesar de su buen estado. Una vez que la chatarra llega a la planta de reciclaje, es ahí cuando inicia el verdadero proceso de recuperación.
En talleres, domicilios o empresas, se acumula la chatarra antes de llevarla a la planta de reciclaje. Sin embargo, esta chatarra no siempre está limpia, a menudo se encuentra mezclada con otros materiales no metálicos, como plástico, madera o goma. Para separar el metal de estos materiales, generalmente se realiza una clasificación manual por parte de los operarios de las plantas de reciclaje o se somete a procesos con fragmentadoras. La clasificación implica el uso de procesos magnéticos y/o tamizados. Al finalizar este proceso, la operación de reciclaje obtiene una forma casi pura de chatarra. Después de clasificar la chatarra, esta es vendida por las plantas de reciclaje a las fundiciones que la utilizan como materia prima en hornos con temperaturas extremadamente altas. La temperatura exacta del horno varía según el tipo de metal que se esté reciclando. El horno funde la chatarra hasta convertirla en líquido y ayuda a eliminar las impurezas u otros materiales que puedan haber quedado en la fase de clasificación. Una vez que el metal se ha fundido, puede ser vertido en moldes para su uso en la fabricación de nuevos productos. |
