Description
Recruiting Tour of South East, Murray Bridge - Hon Patrick Glynn addressing the crowd, 29 April 1916. Men, women, and children gather to watch the Hon Patrick Glynn address the crowd. English flags are on display. During World War I, in 1915, Prime Minister Billy Hughes promised Britain an extra 50,000 reinforcements. The South Australia’n share was allocated to be 5,600 men. The State War Council and the South Australian Railways responded by dispatching recruiting trains twice to various parts of the state, first in March 1916 and then in April 1916.
