Description
English: This image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites on 27 June 2023, shows the island of Madeira. Part of a larger archipelago comprising four islands and designated as an autonomous Portuguese region, Madeira is located off the western Moroccan coast. The day this image was acquired was the hottest day in Madeira’s climatic history, as temperatures reached 38.7°C. The record was broken again the following day with temperatures of 39.1°C. Copernicus Open Data enable to develop a better understanding of the environmental phenomena linked to climate change.
