Description

25 October 2017. Dumping in the yard at the rear of 341 High Road, the former "N17 Studio" of John McAslan & Partners (JMP) starchitects.    The pile of dumping has been steadily growing over recent days. The yard is owned by Haringey Council. It's the responsibility of the so-called Regeneration Team.    Although currently the Council's main "regeneration" focus appears to be a scheme called the Haringey Development Vehicle (HDV). This, in my view, is aimed at ensuring the demolition of large areas of publicly owned housing, and the social cleansing of Tottenham with displacement of the poorest and most vulnerable residents. ______________________________

§ Article by journalist Aditya Chakrabortty: A Labour council attacking its own people? This is regeneration gone bad. The Guardian 25 October 2017. § Declaration of Interest. I am a former Haringey elected councillor. I'm active in the campaign against the Haringey Development Vehicle. My wife Zena Brabazon is a current councillor. She is a member of Haringey Council's Scrutiny Panel which evaluated the HDV using documents and visits to other local councils. Crucially, the Panel also arranged to hear evidence from independent experts.

§ I reported both the rubbish pile and the freezer cabinet to Haringey Council using FixMy Street free website.
