Description
English: Lancaster NE135 was operated by 50 Squadron based at RAF Skellingthorpe when she was tasked to bomb factories at Russelsheim near Frankfurt on the night of 12/13th August 1944.

She was shot down over Belgium and crashed at Bas-Oha, to the West of Huy. All seven crew were killed.

The crew were:- Flying Officer Douglas Leslie Haynes (RAAF) - Pilot, Flight Sergeant George Donald Currey (RAAF) – Wireless Operator / Gunner Flight Sergeant John Lourdes Shortal (RAAF) – Mid upper gunner Flight Sergeant William Ivon Warrington (RAAF) – Rear gunner Flight Lieutenant Ernest Ingham Tennant (RAF) – Flight Engineer Sergeant Geoffrey Charles Remsbery (RAF) – Navigator and Flight Sergeant Phillip Harold Clucas (RAF) – Bomb aimer

This extreme rear fuselage section was kept by a local farmer and eventually moved to a Dutch museum. It joined the collection here in March 2014. Wings Museum, Balcombe, West Sussex, UK
