Summary
[edit]DescriptionReading with Cheltenham express geograph-2904669-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Paddington - Cheltenham express entering Reading. View eastward, towards London on the ex-GW Main line, also to the right on the SR to London (Waterloo), Guildford and Redhill. It is a very busy Maundy Thursday with numerous reliefs and the first part of the 14.15 Paddington - Cheltenham St James is rushing through the Down Main line bottleneck with Collett 4-6-0 No. 5094 'Tretower Castle' (built 6/39, withdrawn 9/62). On the right is the SR Reading South Yards and behind the train is Reading Main Line East Box by which the older GW/SR connecting line runs. On the far left is Reading Middle Box and the various ex-GW Slow and Goods lines. [Apologies for the poor quality, but the scene seems 'atmospheric']. |
