To get the named varieties, they are grafted or layered.Such are the most desirable, giving distinct and definitecolors. The following list of Rhododendrons is fully test-ed, and they are hardy, or at most requiring very slightprotection, according as they may grow in more or lessexposed situations, with evergreen boughs set aboutthem, so as to exclude the sun in thawy winter day8while the nights are freezing. We will show all who call and purchase of us what wedo to grow and protect ours in winter. We will sell unnamed Catawbiense Rhododendronsnear one foot, without bloom-buds, at $1. Price per doz-en or more, on selection. These plants are 15 to 20 inches high, and most of themare set with buds opening in June. These are namedsorts and colors reliable. $1.50 to 2.50 each. Album grandiflorum, white, mellowing to blush withyellow edge. Atrosanguineum, deep, cherry red, fine foliage. Azureum, bluish lilac, with whitish centre, bloominglate. Bicolor, dark rose color with white spot. Candidissimum, the best pure white. Everestianum, rosy lilac with petals and yellow eye; very fine habit, free bloomer.Giganteum, a rosy crimson, with large truss.Gloriosum (Parsons), large blush, very showy.Grandiflorum, a deep rose, inclining to crimson; is an abundant bloomer, and one of the most valuable.Lees dark purple, the very best of its color.Maximum blush, our natif e American; quite hardy.Purpureum elegans, purple, fine and showy. graudlflorum, a fine purple.
