RA 908 DEnglish: Raymond V, Count of Toulouse (terracotta by Antoine-Joseph Salamon, 19th century).
This bust was commissioned by Alexandre du Mège for the program of a "hall of great men of the South of France" at the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse. Count Raymond V, father of Raymond VI, is depicted here with the artistic conventions of the 19th century, in clothing that has no relation to archaeological reality. |
