500px provided description: The mountains were calling. My car had gas and I was itching to take a drive. My friends had been taking pictures of the recent full moon and I thought I'd upload one of my own.

Unfortunately, my first shots were crap. I mean, in hindsight I never had a chance of pulling off a direct shot at the moon with my current system, which did not include a telephoto lens. I appreciated the moon lighting everything from the top of the mountain, but there wasn't anything that actually stood out.

Little did I know that my Heavenly Father had other plans. There was one particular cumulonimbus cloud that couldn't stop churning bolt after bolt of lightning. I thought to myself that I wanted to focus on the moon, but when I saw that bugger couldn't stop, I felt the need to go to higher ground to see if I could shoot it from a better perspective... And, as you can see, that was probably the best move I made this evening.
