| Description | RATHBUN LAKE, Iowa--A dedication ceremony for the North Shore Trail took place April 21, 2012, and included speakers from the Challenge Partnership Agreement which included Phillip Brown, Rathbun operations manager; Alan Johnson, president of Appanoose County Trails, Inc.; Gene Paris, president of Rathbun Snow Riders; Chuck Gipp, deputy director of Iowa Department of Natural Resources; and Marcia Thomas, natural resource manager for the Corps of Engineers at Rathbun. The ribbon cutting ceremony included shoe strings and bicycle chain stretched across the trail. A gathering of approximately 100 gathered to participate in a 5K Walk/Run, bicycle tour, and children activities on the recently completed eight-mile trail. Exhibitors of outdoor activities were at the event and included Rathbun Area Y.M.C.A., Rathbun Snow Riders, Appanoose County Trails, Inc., Rathbun Area Water Trail Club, Appanoose County Wellness Coalition, Connecticut Peddler Yankee Bike Shop, Rathbun Recycling, and Moravia First Responders.
