104—Large Decorated Fish Jar (Ming) Globular with high shoulder, and short neck with thickenedlip. Stone-weight porcelain with clear, sonorous note, deco-rated in the rich Ming colors. Around the foot is an alter-nating petal border in deep cobalt-blue, and on the shouldera fan-leaf border in blue, yellow and red. The body, inrepresentation of water, displays above the base borderaquatic plants and grasses, and among them circling higherup, numerous fishes, swimming and curling in various di-rections ; while near the shoulder, petals, blossoms andflower-sprats float on the surface, in colors, coral, darkred, blue, yellow and green. Underneath the foot, Ta-Ming-Chia-Cliing-nien-chih in deep and brilliant underglaze blue(Made in the reign of Chia Ching). Has finely carvedteakwood five-legged table-stand. Diameter, 16 inches; height, 13% inches.

105—Large Dragon Fish-bowl (Kang-hsi) Clear, sonorous porcelain, of stone-weight, coated with abrilliant milk-white glaze, and decorated in vigorous under-glaze painting with two huge five-clawed dragons emergingfrom waves of the sea and pursuing the flaming jewelamongst fire and cloud scrolls in the air, executed in peachtones varying from pink to the downy gray. (The bottomhas been broken and repaired.) On a tall teakwood table-stand which is beautifully carved in relief and open work. Diameter of howl, 23 inches; depth, loi/o inches; total height •withstand, 421/3 inches. 106—Two Famille Yerte Palace Jars (Kang-hsi) Oviform with high and full shoulder, short wide neck andbroad flat foot. Heavy, sonorous porcelain, decorated withscenes of Oriental magnificence in brilliant enamel paintingin the five colors of the famdle verte, with the addition ofblack and of gilding; productions of the best period ofKang-hsi.
