Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Rapid below the Croglin Water confluence This is one of the longer and livelier rapids (still no more than grade II+) on the descent of the River Eden from Lazonby to Armathwaite, and possibly also one of the most scenic, as red sandstone cliffs appear river right. The river is seen here at a lowish but eminently paddleable level (it can be run lower, but parts get to be a bit of a bump and scrape). Hidden behind one of the standing waves was a fallen tree in the water, waiting to catch the unwary or the beginner (there's always one), but it was the sort that causes a paddler to react and capsize rather than a sweeper which could cause a pin. All the rapids are fairly short, with flat stretches between, making it easy to retrieve and floating boats or bodies, so it's a good trip for beginners or for open boats.
