| Description |
English: Rapid below Thompson's Well Bridge For those paddling the Upper South Tyne from Alston to Slaggyford, the most convenient take-out is river right just above the bridge, then cross the bridge to a small parking area at the main road junction. Those continuing to take out at any of several more bridges (the trip is a bit short in higher water if you stop here) get to experience this rapid just below the bridge. The wave in the centre of the picture forms a nasty hole in higher water, but river left provides a straightforward run through. |
