Summary
[edit]DescriptionRape field and long barrow north of Lamborough Lane - geograph.org.uk - 188064.jpg |
English: Rape field and long barrow north of Lamborough Lane. This field is on a gentle slope down towards the Itchen valley (the source of the Itchen is on the far hill). The trees on the far side of the field are along the edge of an east-west byway called Lamborough Lane. The long grassy mound in front of these trees is a neolithic long barrow that is nearly 70m long and 2m tall. It is a scheduled monument and the rapeseed crop has been planted around it. This view is from a footpath that runs diagonally across the field. |
