| Description |
English: Ranny Point - end of the spit It almost seems that the pile of stones which forms the spit of Ranny Point could be a flooded causeway leading to Flat Holm (centre shot) and then on to Steep Holm (right of centre) though neither the geology nor the bathymetry of the channel support that notion. Triassic mudstones underlie the spit whilst the Carboniferous Limestone islands are extensions of geological structures running west from the Somerset coast. |
