Description
Deutsch: Wartungsarbeiten auf der Air-Base Ramstein an einer North American F-86F Sabre, FU-291, s/n 51-13291, der 526th FBS (Fighter Bomber Squadron), 86th FBW (Fighter Bomber Wing), stationiert in Landstuhl AB, später Ramstein AB (Rheinland-Pfalz) zwischen 1953 und 1955. Die untere Hälfte des Seitenleitwerks incl. der Verlängerung auf dem Rumpfrücken war in der Staffelfarbe Rot des 526th FBS lackiert, oben Weiss gerandet. Die F-86F der anderen beiden Staffeln - 525th und 527th FBS - führten entsprechende Markierungen in Blau bzw. Gelb. Das Emblem des 86th FBW war auf der oberen Hälfte des Seitenleitwerks beidseitig angebracht. Die F-86F waren vom Frühsommer 1953 bis zum Frühjahr 1955 in Landstuhl bzw. Ramstein stationiert. Danach setzte die Umrüstung auf die F-86D 'Sabre Dog' ein, und das Geschwader wurde umbenannt in 86th FIW (Fighter Interceptor Wing). [1]
