English: The Ram Temple is located near the east side of the famous Janaki Temple in Janakpur, the district headquarters of Dhanusha. This temple is the second most famous temple in Janakpur. The temple is said to have been built in 1839 BS by Amar Singh Thapa in pagoda style. In this Ram temple there are stone idols of Ram Chandra, Sita, Laxman, Shatrughan and also idols of Dashavatar. However, it is mentioned in the copperplate that it was built during the reign of King Indravidhata and also the Guthi was built at that time. Shri 3 Juddha Shamsher has even placed Gajur on the brass of the temple with gold jalap.
In the temple premises, Shiva temple, idols of various deities, idols of Hanuman, Shiva, ten incarnations of Vishnu, Ratnasagar, Sankatmochan, Tulsimarak, Nrusinha, seven horse buggies of the sun, stone idols of Sadyojata, Rampaduka, Shivalingas, various black stone idols of Yogamaya Yashoda. The pictures are illustrated. Similarly the statue of Hanuman, the surrounding dharamsalas. The priests of this temple are monks. In addition to the regular worship in this temple, Ram Navami, Krishnashtami, Haribodhani Ekadashi, Teej, fairs are held on various festivals and there is a huge crowd of devotees. |
