English: The flag of Rakkestad municipality. This is divided into two parts with the colours yellow and green and you will see five clover leaves, three pointing upwards and two downwards.
The flag passed the royal resolution 11.07.1975, and it is designed by Truls Nygaard. The clover leaves are symbolizing that Rakkestad is mainly an agricultural municipality. The two leaves pointing downwards are representing agriculture an forestry. The three pointing up are representing handcraft. The three leaves up may also symbolize three church spires and they are telling us that we have three churches in the municipality today. And that we have had three influential clergymen, Østen Bårdsen, Thorkild Ashehoug and Johan Ashehoug. The two leaves down, symbolizing church spires, are telling us that we in former days had two churches more in Rakkestad, but these do not exist any longer.Norsk bokmål: BESKRIVELSE AV KOMMUNEVÅPENET
Delt av gull og grønt ved kløverbladsnitt. Våpenet ble godkjent ved kgl.res. 11.7.1975, og er tegnet av Truls Nygaard. Kløverbladene syrnboliserer at Rakkestad er en stor jordbruksbygd. De to bladene sem er vendt nedover skal representere de gamle næringene jordbruk og skogbruk, De tre andre skal stå for håndverk, handel og industri. De tre kløverbladene oppover kan også minne om kirkespir, og da forteller de at komnunen har tre kirkesogn, og at tre prester i Rakkestad har satt dype spor etter seg: Østen Bårdsen, Thorkild Aschehoug og Johan Aschehoug. |
