1905 Hand-painted Undivided back 13.90x8.80cm A hand painted postcard that – if it was also purchased in Ahmedabad, from where it was sent – suggests that these rare postcards relative to the mass-printed ones were also available outside of Bombay. Postmarked 30 November 1908 and sent to Mr. & Mrs. H.H. Stoddard 889 West Monroe St., Chicago, Illinois, USA: "The Maharaja of Raja[putana?]. put on a portrait & I send Christmas & New Years Greetings to you from Ahmedabad - India - The land of idols & tigers [verso] & camela and elephants - Nov. 27, 1908"" |
