Summary
[edit]DescriptionRailway route north from Riccarton Junction (geograph 3329318).jpg |
English: Railway route north from Riccarton Junction Riccarton Junction was the meeting point of the Border Union Railway (Waverley Line) and the Border Counties Railway; the actual junction is some way behind the camera position. A platform still exists, the photograph was taken from its western end, and the edge can be distinguished below the base of the sign. A group of enthusiasts had plans to restore the station but their plans came to nothing and 'The Friends of Riccarton Junction' as an organisation is no more. (Note: There is better news further north of course where the railway between Edinburgh and Tweedsbank is being reinstated as a commercial route by the Scottish government.) |
