The tracks on the shop site are conveniently arranged forthe receiving of all material, intercommunication of dif-ferent departments, and for the removal of the output.A Y track is provided close to the machine and erectingshop, leading from one serving track on to the transfertable, for the purpose of turning engines. The present machine and erecting shop and boiler andtank shop are served by the transfer table, which is com-mon both to the locomotive and coach departments. Thismakes a very economical design up to the limit providedin the layout; future extensions being accomplished withoutmaterial increase in the length of the transfer table pit. The coach repair shop is convenient to the coach paintshop, and by means of the transfer table and industrialtracks, sufficiently convenient to the locomotive departmentfor such material as will be furnished from this source.
