The main control apparatus is in a bulkhead centrallylocated so that there are ample passage-ways along the sides.At one end is located the electrically driven air compressorfor operating the air brakes. The electric supply will be secured from a third rail,by four contact shoes on each locomotive. At some pointswhere the great number of track switches will not permitthis, power will be secured from an overhead conductorthrough an air-operated overhead contact shoe of whichthere are two on each locomotive. The new locomotive is of steel construction throughout,and each section has the usual bell, sand box, and whistle.The latter is blown by air.
