Baldwin Articulated Corr.-ound, C. C. & O. Ry. ately ahead of the articulated connection. When the engineis curving, the side swing of the lifting links is thus re-duced to a minimum. The arrangement of the throttle valve and steam pipingis similar to that previously used by the builders, and callsfor no special comment. The frames are of cast steel, and the articulated connec-tion is effected by two radius bars. The upper bar is pinnedto the high pressure cylinder saddle, and the lower bar toa cross-tie which spans the bottom rails of the rear frames.Hanger bolts are used to equalize the weights carried bythe front and back frames. The boiler is supported on the front frame by a waistbearer placed back of the smokebox. The centering deviceis placed under the smokebox, and normally carries no load,as J/2 inch clearance is provided between the upper and lowercastings. The tender frame is composed of 12-inch steel channels, with oak bumpers front and back. The tank has a waterbottom,
