Description
English: Railway cutting for the Balbeuchly incline This fairly deep cutting marks the lower part of the incline from Rosemills to Balbeuchly on the Dundee-Newtyle railway. Waggons were pulled up the incline by a stationary engine located at the top of the slope, and would then take a level path to Auchterhouse via Pitpointie, visible in the middle left edge of the photo. The incline was abandoned in 1861 when the Dronley deviation opened
