Summary
[edit]DescriptionRailway bridge, Dymock (geograph 5730156).jpg |
English: Railway bridge, Dymock Dymock station was on the Gloucester - Ledbury line, known rather picturesquely as the Daffodil Line because it was apparently used to transport workers from Gloucester to pick the wild daffodils the area is noted for. The line closed to passenger traffic in July 1959 but was retained for freight between Gloucester and Dymock until 1964, with the line being lifted north of Dymock and stop blocks placed on the line beneath this bridge. the station was in the left foreground of this view: the platforms are still present (though partially buried) and the edging can just be made out beyond the patch of tarmac. |
