Each of these locomotives has atotal weight in working order of 230,-000 lbs., all of which is carried on thedrivers. The overall length is 44 ft.2 ins. and the rigid wheel base is 11 ft.and the driving wheels are 60 ins. in di-aineter. The motors are of the three-phase induction type, with plain sec-ondary circuit rheostatic control, and These pinions engage gear bandsshrunk on the extension of the driv-ing wheel centers. The gear bandr arecut in pairs and are set so that theteeth on the two wheels line up accu-rately. The pinions on the motor shaftare, of course, set in accurate line.
