English: Ultimate valve mantel radio rectangular pressed metal radio in painted cream. Front of radio has a circular speaker grill covered in dark fabric to the left and a rectangular tuning scale window to the right. Below these are three black bakelite control knobs. Above the speaker grill is a small metal name plate "Ultimate" in raised lettering. The rear of the radio is open exposing the guts of the radio. A woven brown cotton electric cord with new moulded brown plastic three pin plug extends from the chassis at lower right printed on the manufacturing plate on rear- CAUTION - DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE - MAKING ANY ADJUSTMENTS - 220 - 250 VOLTS A.C. 50 WATTS - RB 85809 paper decal on inside right- GUARANTEE - OF - FREE SERVICE paper decal on inside left- VALVE LAYOUT FOR 5DW and 5BC RECEIVER // The Ultimate brand radios were made by Radio Ltd, Auckland. The company was founded in 1922 and survived until 1955 [1]
