Summary

[edit]
Description
English: "Radika": The basic ingredient (herb) of this cold plate ("zeytinyağlı") from İzmir carries a name that is a bit confusing. Normally, in Turkish we use radika for a plant made into salad with olive oil, salt, lemon juice and "nar ekşisi" or balsamic vinegar. In Spanish the plant is called escarola (Spain) or achicoria (South America). I doubt this is it. I guess it may be what we call "karahindiba" in some parts of the country, but I will check it before categorizing the plant. (Please note that in İzmir several things have different names than the rest of the country: Gevrek-simit, Kumru-sandviç, Domat-domates, Çiğdem-ayçekirdeği etc.)
