| Description |
English: Racing Section Playwave The section of the River Tees from Egglestone bridge down to Cotherstone is known as the Racing Section (from wildwater races held here). It starts off gently enough with numerous small waves, then passes a tunnel where water from the Tyne was once (and only once) sent to the Tees. The bed becomes rockier and soon this little chute is reached, with a playwave which works quite well at some levels, such as when this shot was taken. Like all playwaves, sometimes the paddler plays with the river, and sometimes the river plays with the paddler (he did roll up). |
