Italiano: SEDIA a quattro piedini conici, con sedile rettangolare e sottile spalliera ricurva.
In Africa le sedie (sedili con schienale e parti assemblate) sono il prodotto dell'incontro con l'occidente; tradizionalmente i sedili erano costituiti da sgabelli scolpiti in un unico blocco di legno. La particolarità di molte sedie africane sta nelle loro dimensioni ridotte che pure evitando il contatto diretto con il suolo, si mantengono vicine alla terra. La posizione assisa risulta così la stessa della posizione di riposo più diffusa: quella accovacciata. Questo tipo di sedie è diffuso fra diverse popolazioni della Costa d'Avorio (Dan, Baulé, We, Senufo) e talvolta sono usate nei rituali di escissione: le ragazze doloranti per la ferita vi si inginocchiano. Le sedie, appartenenti ai nonni delle giovani, vengono anche usate nelle danze, battendole ritmicamente per terra. L'esserne prive è vissuto come un'umiliazione perché significa essere prive di famiglia e di sostegno. |
