Italiano: Maschera cimiero - La testa in legno ricoperta di pelle animale poggia su una base in fibre intrecciate che serve da punto di aggancio del costume. Il volto ovale e tendenzialmente realistico è di colore chiaro, con labbra, setto nasale e sopracciglia colorate in rosso. La bocca è aperta così come gli occhi marcati da due pupille nere. Sulla sommità acconciatura tinta nero.

Presso gli Ejagham del Cross River la società Ngbe è un'associazione segreta di guerrieri che riveste anche funzioni commerciali e politiche. L'appartenenza di gruppo si costruisce intorno a un insieme di simboli condivisi, tra cui le maschere.

Solitamente le maschere sono ricoperte di pelle di antilope ma si sono anche ritrovate maschere con pelle umana, cosa che fece ipotizzare allo studioso Leo Frobenius che in origine i guerrieri portassero sul capo non una maschera, ma la testa del nemico ucciso. La maschera è stata così interpretata come una forma di appropriazione del potere del morto.
